Powerful Features for Smarter Driving

rDetect brings your Uniden radar detector into the modern age with intelligent alert processing, full Apple ecosystem support, and features no other app offers.

Core Feature

Real-Time Alerts

iPhone iPad Watch

Get instant visual and audio notifications the moment your detector picks up a signal. rDetect displays all the information you need at a glance:

  • Signal Strength - Proximity meter and bar graph showing threat intensity
  • Band & Frequency - X, K, Ka, MRCD, MRCT and Gatso with the measured frequency to three decimals, plus Laser
  • Direction - On dual-antenna detectors, a large arrow under the scope tinted by signal strength — front, rear or side, readable at a driving glance
  • Multi-Bogey - Track multiple simultaneous threats, each with its own band, strength and direction
  • Daylight Colors - Every band and strength color has a light-mode variant that clears 4.5:1 contrast, so a windshield-mounted phone stays readable in bright sun
  • Your Text Size - The speed readout, band badge, scope and speed-limit sign all follow your iOS Dynamic Type setting

Unique to rDetect

Smart Muting

iPhone iPad

Multiple layers of intelligent false alert suppression work together to keep you focused on real threats:

  • BSM Filtering - Suppresses blind spot monitor interference from nearby vehicles
  • Ghost Vehicle Detection - Identifies and mutes signals from cars traveling alongside you
  • Visual Awareness - Screen flashes for muted strong threats so you stay aware without audio
  • Speed & Direction Rules - Auto-mute by speed, direction, signal strength, and band

False Positive Scoring

iPhone iPad

Every alert rDetect logs is scored for how likely it was to be real, so you can tell a patrol car from a supermarket door:

  • Four plain tiers - High Confidence Threat, Likely Real, Uncertain, or Likely False Positive, each with its own glyph so it reads without color
  • Reads the road - Posted limit, road class, commercial and school zones, and downhill grade all move the score
  • Reads your driving - Muting an alert by hand pushes it toward false; braking pushes it toward real
  • Shows its work - Tap any score for a breakdown of every rule that fired and by how much
  • One-tap lockout - An alert in the Likely False Positive tier offers to become a GPS lockout on the spot

Turn-by-Turn Navigation

iPhone iPad

Plan a route and drive it with live guidance, right in the app you already watch for alerts.

  • Live guidance & reroute — spoken and on-screen turns that recalculate when you go off route
  • Guidance on the Lock Screen — with your detector connected, the drive Live Activity adds the next maneuver, distance and ETA alongside the live alert
  • Home & Work — saved favorites with avoid-tolls and avoid-highways route options
  • Trip routes — navigate with the detector connected and the drive is mapped as the GPS trail you actually took, kept on your device for 30 days

Route-Aware Threat Scan

iPhone iPad

rDetect connects navigation to detection: it scans the route you're about to drive and shows enforcement before you reach it.

  • Corridor scan — your logged alert spots from the last 90 days and GPS lockouts along the route, plus the community cameras already loaded around you
  • Markers ahead — threats dropped on the map in your direction of travel
  • Community cameras — sourced from OpenStreetMap and refreshed as you drive
  • Safest route — every alternate is scanned too, so the picker shows each one's threat rating and flags the quietest with the trade-off spelled out: "+4 min · 9 fewer threats"
  • Threats ahead, spoken — a rail above the guidance card counts down the next few corridor threats by band and distance, and the nearest is announced as you close within a mile

Pro Dashboard

iPad

Turn your iPad into a full instrument panel. The Pro Dashboard transforms the driving experience with a dedicated six-panel grid — laid out for landscape or portrait — packed with real-time telemetry:

  • Speed Hero - Large speed display with your heading and the live posted speed limit
  • Radar Proximity Scope - Visual radar scope showing signal strength and direction for active threats
  • Live Signal Graphs - Real-time signal strength history for every active alert simultaneously
  • Telemetry Grid - Voltage, position, connection state, weather, altitude, and nearby lockouts, false alerts and POIs at a glance
  • Trip Statistics - Live session stats with alert counts by band, peak speed, and average speed
  • Mini Map Inset - Your position, live alerts, and threats on your route without leaving the panel

GPS Lockouts

iPhone iPad Mac

Automatically learn and suppress false alert locations. rDetect goes beyond basic lockouts with continuous tuning and sharing:

  • Auto-Learning - Lockouts form after repeated encounters, counted once per location per day, so a spot takes two or three separate days to lock in
  • Continuous Tuning - Lockout positions and frequencies refine themselves over time
  • Nearby Falses Counter - See how many known false locations are nearby on the dashboard
  • Pinned to the Frequency - Lock out an alert and rDetect silences the exact frequency you saw, not the whole band, with a tolerance window sized per band that tunes itself as the source drifts
  • Real Threats Still Get Through - Every zone remembers its strongest-ever signal; a meaningfully stronger one is announced anyway
  • Export & Import - Share lockout databases in JSON, CSV, GPX, or KML format

Location Intelligence

Points of Interest

iPhone iPad Mac

Mark and get alerted to locations that matter. POIs give you advance warning for spots your detector can't see:

  • Speed Traps - Mark known enforcement spots with approach voice alerts
  • School & Construction Zones - Time-sensitive locations with configurable alert radius
  • Ten POI Types - Speed traps, school and construction zones, fixed and red-light cameras, average-speed zones, license plate readers, toll gantries and speed displays, plus a custom type for anything else — each with its own icon, alert radius and spoken phrase you can override
  • Speed-Gated Alerts - Tell any POI to speak only above a speed you choose; the threshold reads your phone's own GPS, so it works with no detector paired
  • iCloud Sync - POIs sync automatically across your devices through your own private iCloud account

Crowd-Sourced Data

Community Camera Database

iPhone iPad

Tap into OpenStreetMap's crowd-sourced database for real-time awareness of cameras, enforcement zones and roadside equipment:

  • Speed Cameras - Fixed and mobile speed enforcement locations from OSM
  • Red Light & Average Speed - Intersection and average-speed-zone enforcement with approach alerts
  • Live Speed Limits - Posted speed limits displayed on your driving HUD as you drive
  • Plate Readers, Toll Gantries & Speed Displays - ALPR/Flock cameras from the DeFlock community project via OpenStreetMap, plus toll gantries and radar speed-display signs — each type switched on or off independently
  • Auto-Refresh - Data refreshes automatically as you drive into new areas
Only on rDetect

Private by Design

No account, no ads, and no cross-app tracking. Your alerts, lockouts, POIs and profiles live on your device and in your own private iCloud database — we have no access to it. Community camera and speed-limit lookups send your approximate position, rounded to about 110 metres, to OpenStreetMap's public servers; you can switch them off in Settings › Community Data. Anonymized false-positive analytics are off unless you turn them on.
